Oneshotofthebrothershuddledtogetherwatchedbytheirfatherisdifficulttojustifyrealistically,butitworksasasymbolicrepresentation.Ifmeanwhileonewantseverythingspelledoutandsweetened,thereistheQuébecfilm"C.R.A.Z.Y."Thebrothersdomaintainenormousfamiliarity.Theyoungestone,verydrunk,ishelpedbyabrothertovomit. Ifthat'sshocking,wehavetotakeitasafactofthemilieu.ThebanlieuxofFrancehaverecentlybeeninthenews."LeClan"goesmuchfurtherwithstoriesthatleadonetocareforthecharactersinthevarietyoftheirdifficultsituationsofsocialderogation,dangerouslabour,sexuality,andself-esteem.
